New Cooper Pick-Up and Drop-Off Rules
In an effort to make sure that all of our Cooper students are safe during pick up and drop off, our safety committee has reworked the flow of our parent pick up and drop off in the Weisberg end.
In the past, bus drop off, parent drop off, parent parking and student walking has all happened in the same area. To make this busy time of the day the safest it can be for all of our students we will be designating some new areas. Diagonal parking in front of the Weisberg sidewalk will continue to be an option for parents who wish to walk their students in or out of school. Parallel parking next to the field on the Weisberg end will be a second option for parent parking if they choose to walk their students in or out. This is NOT a drop off area, you MUST accompany your student across moving traffic. A clearly labeled driving lane, with arrows for through traffic, will be marked between these two parking areas. We now have three handicap accessible parking spaces. Please honor these areas. The biggest change in the Cooper flow will happen at the south end of the Weisberg drop off loop. The entire south curb and sidewalk is for pick up and drop off only. Please do not block this area if you are waiting for your student. If you have to wait, please drive the loop again. If everyone respects the flow of traffic this will be safer and smoother for everyone. Southeast staff parking lot CANNOT be used between 8am and 4pm by parents for student drop off or pick up. City citations will be issued if this is not followed.
Review of new pick up and drop off options:
New Pick-Up and Drop-Off Area
(Section designated by painted green curb and signage)
o No parking or standing – students can easily and quickly load/unload here o South end of the Weisberg drop off loop
(Marked with arrows for flow of traffic)
o No one stopped or waiting in this area
Parking Areas – Diagonal and Parallel
(Painted with diagonal or parallel lines)
o These areas are designed for parents to walk students in or out of building
o Parents must accompany in and out of these areas because of moving traffic
